Going Solar - Site Assessment

You are here: Home » Going Solar - Site Assessment

Going Solar Is Simple

We offer a free, no-contract site assessment to families and businesses looking to take the first step.

To help you get the most out of your investment, we look at three key factors:

South-Facing Orientation. For systems in the Northern Hemisphere, the more south-facing the surface, the more energy it’ll produce. In ideal circumstances, your solar panels should be installed within 40 degrees of directly South for optimal energy production. Got a flat roof or plan to install on the ground? Systems will be tilted to accommodate south-facing exposure.

Minimal Shading. That includes anything ranging from leafy trees in the suburbs to tall buildings in the city. Anything that might impact the access that the sun has to your roof will affect the amount of energy it generates for your property. Also consider: if you could, would you move the obstruction if it meant the difference between having solar or not?

Enough Surface Area. How much roof space do you have? Is your roof angular or does it have a lot of dormers? The clearer the space, the better (though don’t worry about chimneys, vent pipes, or skylights – we can work around that).
