Bird Precision

Bird Precision is the only precision glass jewel manufacturing plant in the United States and for 95 years has been the forerunner in new applications for the precision jewel industry. The Bird management team came to SolarFlair looking to reduce their energy consumption and save money. SolarFlair helped the business capture over $65,000 in rebates and tax credits while reducing their electric bill with a 10 kilowatt solar electric system. All major solar components were manufactured in Massachusetts.

Bird Precision represents 95 years of precision New England craftsmanship. Birds's roots began with supplying ruby and sapphire jewel bearings for the Waltham Watch Factory in the early 1900s. Later, Bird's products were integral to the Aerospace industry. Precision jewel bearings were found in both satellite and lunar guidance systems of the 1970s. More recently, with advancements in laser drilling and automated equipment, Bird Precision has also become a world leader in precision flow control for the pneumatic, hydraulic and medical gas industries. Micro miniature ruby orifices and machine components with dimensions as small as .0004" are found in modern pediatric regulators, leak detection equipment as well as gas detection equipment for the Department of Homeland Security.

"The Solarflair staff was great. They explained everything thoroughly. The job went as planned. We are very pleased. They were great to work with that is why we had them put another system on our office." Larry Boyd, General Manager Bird Precision
